Manchester Victory to remember the victims of the Manchester Arena attack

Northern has announced a minute’s silence will be held at Manchester Victoria station on Wednesday (May 22) as staff and rail users pay tribute to the victims and survivors who continue to be affected by the Manchester Arena attack.

The silence will be held during a special memorial service at 12:00, which will be led by Railway Chaplain Mike Roberts.

A second minute of silence will take place at 22:31 to mark the moment of the attack.

Craig Harrop, North West Regional Director, said: “The Manchester Arena attack has had a lasting impact on staff and customers at Manchester Victoria Station.

“As we mark the seventh anniversary of the attack, we remember the 22 victims and all those affected by what happened that night.”

In 2022, a permanent memorial called the Glade of Light was unveiled between Manchester Cathedral and Chetham School of Music to act as a focal point for remembrance in the city.

At Manchester Victoria, an area near the soldiers’ gate within the station has become a place for people to reflect and pay personal tributes.
