Pedophile confessed his ‘sexual interest in children’ during sloppy talks with undercover cops

A pedophile who asked a 13-year-old “girl” to have sex ignored the fact that he was actually talking to an undercover cop. Nicholas Robinson unwittingly told another officer he interacted with that he had a “sexual interest in children”.

The first officer posed as an adult to chat with Robinson, 35, on social media earlier this year. Robinson sent them videos of child abuse and even offered to contribute to the cost of a camera to get explicit photos and videos of the youngsters.

A second officer was in contact with Robinson in February, but he posed as a 13-year-old schoolgirl. Robinson, from Wolverhampton, asked the ‘teenager’ to have sex.

Robinson pleaded guilty to four counts of child sex offenses – including distributing an indecent image of a child and attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child – and was sentenced to three years in prison following a hearing at Birmingham Crown Court.

Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Neil Cunnington from West Midlands Police said: “We want to create an environment of disruption, fear and deterrence among people who operate online to sexually abuse children. Arresting and convicting criminals like Robinson is the main way we do this.

“If anyone is concerned about someone’s online behavior or suspects they are looking after children, then please contact us so we can investigate.” People can get in touch with the force using the live chat facility at www.west-midlands.police. .uk or by calling 101.
