Live: My hole appears in the middle of the road ‘a few meters from the cabins’

A hole has appeared in the middle of a street in a village in Cornwall. According to a local resident, the hole appeared in Westway, Wheal Rose, on Sunday, May 19, amid mineshaft investigation work.

The road was closed on May 1, according to a notice from Cornwall Council. According to the notice, posted on the roadworks listings, the road was closed “due to the risk of danger to the public during mine survey work”.

The work is expected to be completed by July 31. A local resident told CornwallLive that the hole appeared just meters away from a number of houses along the road. They said: “The hole appeared yesterday but there was a slight dip in the road. The council held a meeting on Wednesday. So local people could discuss their concerns..”
