Months of “misery” for people living in “dirty” apartments.

Downtown apartment dwellers have been living with damp carpets, collapsed walls and ceilings for months.

Residents of Borden Court student accommodation, on London Road in Liverpool city centre, are experiencing serious leaks, according to Urban Evolution, which has let some rooms out of the building despite a repair notice being sent to roof in January.

Inspired Property Management (IPM) is responsible for the common areas of Borden Court, including services such as WiFi, water and electricity. It has declared its commitment to maintaining the building to a high standard and claims that the process of carrying out extensive repairs is underway.

In January this year, the ECHO spoke to a resident of the building who said: “There is a hole in the ceiling. As we are on the top floor, the leakage is quite bad. All the windows are moldy. One of the toilets is broken.

“The stress on top of general work and university is just horrible. Your food spoils faster because of this. It was just horrible. It makes you not want to be here anymore.”

Photos taken of her top-floor apartment showed holes in the ceiling, peeling paint, a melted outlet and condensation on the kitchen window caused by mold.
