Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl is now wanted by another Championship club

Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl has yet another Championship contender.

Sheffield Wednesday beat Sunderland 2-0 on the final day of the season to secure Championship safety, with Rohl impressing Black Cats fans online.

Sunderland have previously been linked with a summer move for Rohl following his impressive tenure in S6, with Rohl’s future at Hillsborough still somewhat uncertain.

Owls owner Dejphon Chansiri has started to make the off-field changes Rohl wants to see this summer, with the pair having positive discussions about the future.

But another team has now added Rohl to their short list of managers; HullLive claim that Hull City owner Acun Ilicali is a Rohl fan.

The Tigers are now without a manager after sacking Liam Rosenior on Tuesday despite a 7th place finish in the Championship this season.

The latest on Danny Rohl’s future and contract at Sheffield Wednesday

While there is no official confirmation or suggestion that Rohl will stay at Sheffield Wednesday, his comments in recent months have indicated that he is willing to stay.

Quite simply, Chansiri must comply with Rohl’s wishes this summer and make the necessary changes and give him the resources to rebuild his squad.

And likewise; there is no confirmation of Rohl’s contract at Sheffield Wednesday, although previous reports have suggested his current deal runs until the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

Sheffield Wednesday have Hull’s interest to worry about

Hull City have just enjoyed a strong season in the Championship and will therefore be an attractive club for many managers out there.

Rosenior took over in 2022 when the club were 21st in the table and almost made it to the play-offs this season.

Whoever takes over will take control of a very successful club. But there may not be too much need for concern among Sheffield Wednesday fans as far as Hull is concerned.

Rohl, if anything, seems very loyal. He could probably have left Sheffield Wednesday already and taken over at Sunderland.

So moving to a Hull City outfit where they just sacked the manager after a 7th place finish doesn’t seem like a Rohl move.

Sunderland may be considered the same, but for Chansiri, now is the time to step up and show Rohl that he can have a bright future with Sheffield Wednesday.
