Watch the end of the disqualified driver’s high speed chase after reaching 100 mph

Police ended a dangerous high-speed chase by a disqualified driver with a ‘textbook manoeuvre’, with dash cam capturing the exact moment on video. Richard Frost drove through Leicestershire and reached speeds of 100mph before the pursuit was called off.

Frost was driving a black BMW 7 Series on Wednesday, April 10, when the vehicle was first spotted by police in Leicestershire. The speeding 42-year-old then continued into Nottinghamshire where armed response officers were deployed to stop him and the BMW.

Nottinghamshire Police, who had spotted Frost on the A60 in Arnold, first used a stinger in Rehill, but the BMW sped off towards Mansfield. Over the next few minutes, Frost forced the damaged vehicle to speeds of 100mph as it weaved in and out of traffic on the A614.

Footage from inside armed police cars shows police making tactical contact with the rear of the BMW as Frost approaches the Longdale Lane roundabout; the contact spun the car at speed 180 degrees before a second police car pulled Frost in. He was immediately arrested and detained at the scene.

Frost, of Hanging Heaton, Batley, later pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving while disqualified. He appeared at Nottingham Crown Court last Thursday (May 2), where he was sentenced to 10 months in prison.

Speaking after sentencing, PC Emma Jordan, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was an appallingly reckless display of driving which put other road users, police officers and Frost himself at risk of significant harm . Public safety is our primary concern in incidents of this nature, which is why we made the decision to end this pursuit in the manner we did.”

Force Inspector Jonathan Lee also praised the police’s efforts. He said the officers’ “manoeuvre” helped “protect the public from harm”.
