A 26-year-old runner has died after Sunday’s Great Run Bristol event.

The Great Run company released a statement saying it was “with great sadness” it could confirm the man had died after the crash.

They announced:

“Everyone involved in the organization of the Great Bristol Run would like to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of the participant.

“In accordance with the wishes of the family, no further details will be made public. The cause of death will be determined later by medical examination.

“We take the health and safety of all attendees very seriously and work hard to ensure our events are delivered safely. All event plans are rigorously assessed and approved by the Bristol Safety Advisory Group for Events (SAGE) and are aligned with best practice. in the UK.”

The man’s cause of death has not yet been determined.

Sunday’s event, which started and finished in the city centre, included a half marathon and a 10km run.

The organizers estimate that more than 15,000 people participated.
