The Met Office is issuing heavy rain weather warnings for parts of the UK

Heavy rain is expected to hit parts of the UK this week, with the Met Office issuing weather warnings.

Yellow rain warnings were issued for parts of Northern Ireland and south-west England on Monday.

It comes after a warm and sunny weekend that saw temperatures reach the mid-20s – before heavy rain on Sunday night.

From 8am today, south west England, Exeter, Truro and Plymouth are expected to be affected by heavy rain conditions. The warning, which is in place until 11.59pm this evening, also warns of potential flooding for homes and businesses.

Devon and Cornwall will also be affected by this warning, with 20-30mm of rain expected to fall across the wider area and up to 40-50mm of rain on some hills. Despite this, the Met Office stressed that conditions would “improve” throughout the afternoon in Cornwall.

Meanwhile, a second heavy rain warning will be in effect from 8am until midnight. This will mainly affect parts of Wales including Swansea and Cardiff.

The final warning will hit parts of Northern Ireland today and will again warn of heavy rainfall, mainly affecting eastern parts of the region. Fortunately, the warning will only remain until Tuesday morning.

The Met Office also warned of “some showers” in northern Scotland, which will move into southern and western Scotland and the rest of England in the evening. During the day, other parts of England not covered by the rain warning are likely to see more sunshine and pleasant warm conditions.

For the North West forecast, the Met Office said on its website: “Some cloud starts but clears in the morning, leaving a mostly dry day with sunny spells, although not feeling as warm as Sunday. afternoon maximum temperature 21 °C.”

For the evening, he added: “Becoming increasingly cloudy this evening with outbreaks of rain, this often heavy and lingering overnight. Winds become strong in any heavy rains. Easy. Minimum temperature 11 °C”.
