Liverpool transfer news LIVE – Arne Slot confirmed, Virgil van Dijk’s future, Jurgen Klopp’s farewell

Linda Pizzuti pounced on Man City as she congratulated Pep Guardiola’s side for winning their fourth consecutive Premier League title.

A 3-1 win over West Ham United on the final day of the season was enough for City to clinch the title, finishing two points ahead of Arsenal as they became the first team in English football to win four consecutive titles.

Liverpool are the only side to deny Guardiola’s men in the last seven seasons, memorably being crowned champions in 2019/20 to end the club’s 30-year drought.

But despite City making unprecedented history at the Etihad Stadium, it wasn’t the biggest story on the final day of the season. Rather that was saved for the Reds as Jurgen Klopp took over his final game in charge after a highly successful nine-year tenure.

In the run-up to his exit, he stated in an interview: “When you win one with Liverpool, it’s worth up to five with another club.”

Meanwhile, “This Means More” emerged as a slogan well used by the Reds throughout the club’s ownership by Fenway Sports Group, after it bought the club in October 2010.

As they celebrated Man City’s fourth consecutive Premier League title, the club’s social media accounts took a subtle dig at Liverpool as a result, tweeting “THIS MEANS FOUR” separated by four trophy emojis . Unsurprisingly, viewers soon saw the association with the Reds.

This included Pizzuti, the wife of Liverpool owner John W. Henry, after she attended Anfield for Klopp’s final game in charge of the Reds.

Taking to Instagram, she congratulated Man City on winning the title. But by posting their tweet on her story, she made it easy for them by referring to Liverpool in a teasing dig.

“Honest congratulations to Man City,” she wrote. “Premier League Champions! So much respect for this amazing achievement.

“Thank you for thinking of us on your special day.”
