Jose Mourinho has been given ‘a new job offer’ after the Liverpool manager linked up

Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho is edging closer to a return to football just weeks after being linked with a move to Liverpool.

Ever since Jurgen Klopp announced he would be stepping down as Reds boss in January, there has been speculation about who his successor could be. Arne Slot was confirmed as Liverpool’s next head coach on Monday, replacing Klopp in the process.

Before Slot’s appointment was confirmed, several candidates were linked to be Liverpool’s next manager. Ruben Amorim, Xabi Alonso and Roberto De Zerbi were just some of the names linked to the vacancy.

There were also some reports that Mourinho could be considered by the Liverpool hierarchy, although the rumors were tentative at best. That speculation intensified after the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss was spotted at Craven Cottage last month when the Reds faced Fulham in the Premier League.

Mourinho has been unemployed since leaving his role as Roma manager in January. Now new reports from Italy claim that Mourinho will return to work in professional football.

According to SportsItalia, Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadisiyah are preparing the appointment of Mourinho. However, rather than as manager, it has been claimed that Mourinho will instead take on the role of technical director.

Al-Qadisiyah is currently in the second tier of the Saudi Arabian football system. The club is currently top of the Division 1 table and has already won the league title and secured promotion to the Saudi Pro League for next season.

Mourinho was linked with the Liverpool manager’s job two decades ago during his time at Porto. The Reds appointed Rafa Benitez in 2004, rather than Mourinho, who went on to take charge of Chelsea and formed a bitter rivalry with Liverpool in subsequent years at Stamford Bridge.
