Birmingham’s popular summer attraction has been axed due to funding, leaving fans ‘absolutely gutted’

Visitors have reacted with sadness after organizers behind a popular ‘beach’ attraction said they would not be holding the event this year due to a lack of funding. “Northfield Beach,” featuring sandcastles, live music, dino digs, cooking workshops and the circus, will not be returning this summer.

The Northfield Community Partnership made the announcement on Facebook. The free event, held in Price Square, also boasted arts and crafts, storytelling and delighted local families.




The partnership said: “Here at Northfield Community Partnership we are very sad to announce that unfortunately due to funding restrictions this year, Northfield Beach will not be going ahead. We know how important this much-loved event is to our community. .

“This won’t be the end of the beach and we’ll be back next year with more fun-filled events.” The news was immediately met with sadness by people who enjoyed the attraction.

Rachel Jennings wrote: “Shame. Such a great activity. But deal with all the budget cuts everywhere.”
