Jack O’Sullivan: Police contact more than 1,000 taxi drivers

More than 1,000 taxi drivers have been contacted by police who continue to investigate the disappearance of a 23-year-old student.

Jack O’Sullivan was last seen in the Hotwells area of ​​Bristol in the early hours of March 2, returning home after a night out with friends.

A new CCTV clip showing a member of the public walking a dog near the Brunel drawbridge at 04:30 GMT has also been released. They are described as wearing a green padded jacket with a fur-lined hood and walking a black dog with a red collar.

Avon and Somerset Police said they had reviewed more than 100 hours of CCTV footage and carried out extensive land and river searches since Mr O’Sullivan went missing.

It is hoped that drivers using the Cumberland Basin network around the time of Mr O’Sullivan’s disappearance may have dashcam information or eyewitnesses who could help with enquiries.

Officers are also “proactively” contacting the registered owners of vehicles that have been seen driving in the area.

The last confirmed sighting of Mr O’Sullivan is at 03:13 when he walked onto the grassy area at the junction of Brunel Lock Way and Brunel Way.

There are two other sightings believed to be Mr O’Sullivan along the Plimsol Bridge at around 03:25, traveling towards the city centre.

Police said there was another sighting around 3:38 a.m. on the Bennett Way slip road on the north bank of the river.

According to police, Mr O’Sullivan tried to call a friend who was still at the party at 3.24am.

When the friend called back 10 minutes later, Mr O’Sullivan answered, only managing to say “hello” before the call was cut off.

However, his phone remained active on the Find My Friends app until 06:44.

Mr O’Sullivan is described as white, around 5ft 10in (178cm) tall, of thin build and with short brown hair.

He was last seen wearing a green/brown quilted Barbour jacket over a beige woolen jumper, navy blue chinos and brown leather trainers with white soles.

Det Insp Jason Chidgey said: “We hope this renewed focus on motorists or motorists using the road system around Hotwells and the Cumberland Basin on the morning of Saturday March 2 will provide more potential images that can help us provide answers to the family to Jack about what happened. to him.

“We know there was a significant number of vehicles in the area around this time and we have previously appealed for anyone with dash cam footage to come forward – with a particular focus on the area of ​​Brunel Way, Brunel Lock Road, Junction Swing Bridge, Plimsol Swing Bridge or Portway anytime between 02:45 and 04:00 on Saturday 2nd March.

“We are also still appealing for any mobile phone footage or ringing.

“Our thoughts are very much with Jack’s family, who are going through an unimaginable ordeal, and we are committed to supporting them in any way we can.”
