The Leeds United star highlights the traits the Whites must have against Southampton

Leeds United defender Liam Cooper believes the Whites will need to be confident when they take on Southampton in the Championship play-off final at Wembley on Sunday.

After comfortably beating Norwich City in the semi-finals, the Whites now prepare for the final clash with Southampton.

Cooper, who has been a bit more of a player for Daniel Farke’s side this season, insists that while the aim was to go up automatically, they must take the second chance to have a bite of the cherry.

However, the approach must be like any other game, bearing in mind that the better team on the day, with the ability to take chances, will be victorious, Cooper believes.

Giving an insight into the group he was part of, Cooper told the BBC: “It’s an extraordinary group.

“I think to get 90 points in the season was incredible.

“We know we didn’t finish the way we wanted with automatic promotion, but finishing in the play-offs gives you a second bite of the cherry.

“I think for us we have to approach it like any game.

“I think the team that plays better that day, takes chances, makes the fewest mistakes will come out victorious.”

Greeting the Leeds fans and emphasizing the belief, Cooper added: “That’s what we have to do all week. You have faith.

“I know we’re all going to be crazy crazy people, too.
