Fabrizio Romano says Ineos transfer target ‘100% approved’ at Manchester United after scouts’ recommendation

Manchester United are now gearing up for a hugely important transfer window as the club look to build a path to success.

Change is in the air at Old Trafford, with Ineos looking to make their presence felt during the first summer transfer window under their management.

New faces will be needed to refresh a team that finished eighth last season, regardless of what happens in the FA Cup final.

Work has been underway to identify potential transfer targets, with new technical director Jason Wilcox hard at work preparing United’s affairs.

Manchester United as Michael Olise

One player whose name has been linked frequently in recent weeks is Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, who was excellent in the Eagles’ recent win over Manchester United.

It wasn’t just Manchester United fans who were impressed. Scouts and the club’s hierarchy are in sync in their approval of the Palace forward.

Fabrizio Romano, speaking for The United Stand, explains: “Manchester United have approved this possibility regarding him. The player is 100% internally approved.”

But he cites difficulties, adding: “The real problem is competition. Many clubs are interested in Olise.”

Manchester United have no Champions League football to offer and may not have European football. Neither will Olise’s Palace, but United’s rivals might and don’t expect the Red Devils to go crazy on wages either, under Ineos.

Romano clarifies that United’s interest in Olise is still in the starting blocks, adding: “Advanced negotiations have not started yet.”

Why Olise might not be a priority

Michael Olise is a signing Manchester United would love to have, but the club need to start prioritizing players based on need.

Last summer, United splashed out on Mason Mount when there were higher priorities elsewhere, and the rest of the club’s transfer business was much more difficult.

United are again working on a tight budget and have gaps to fill at centre-back and forward. A left back will probably be needed as well.

There is work to be done in midfield, especially if Casemiro leaves, which makes the winger feel like a luxury addition.

Will there be any money left for Olise? And just as exciting, will he still be available, amid competition for his signature?
