Ealing Trailfinders thank players leaving at end of season – EALING.NEWS – Ealing’s Voice 7 Cities

Ealing Trailfinders have announced that 23 players, including Luke Daniels, Jordan Burns, Pat Howard, Steven Shingler and James Cordy-Redden, will be leaving at the end of the 23/24 season.

In a statement, the club said: “It has been another historic year for the club, winning the league title and reaching the semi-finals of the Premiership Cup. These players will leave the Trailfinders after the final game of the season against Bedford. Through their dedication and skill they have contributed enormously to the club and they will all be fondly remembered at Ealing Trailfinders.”

As well as thanking all the players for their contribution, the club singled out five who it said: “have left an indelible mark on Trailfinders Sports Club. Their outstanding careers, service and dedication have been instrumental to the club’s success, earning them a well-deserved place in the Trailfinders Hall of Fame.”

The club said of the five:

“Luke Daniels is a dynamic player at the back who has made over 100 appearances for Ealing Trailfinders during his tenure which has seen him win two Championship Cups and two league titles.”

“Jordan Burns topped the scoring charts for Ealing Trailfinders in 2018/19 and has been a constant threat from half and wing throughout his career. Burns was known to fans around Ealing as he had blazing pace and regularly used it to fly away from defenders and score himself. He won three Championship Cups and two league titles during his time at the club.”

“Pat Howard, a bruising South African centre, terrorized opposition midfielders while at TFSC. Known for carrying the ball, Howard scored some excellent tries for Ealing Trailfinders with his ability to run straight through opposition defenders. A 2018 Trailfinder, Howard helped the club win three Championship Cups and two league titles.”

“Steven Shingler first joined Ealing Trailfinders in 2019 and was an instant success, aided by his straight boot wand. Shingler has won two Championship Cups and two league titles since his arrival. Club captain for the past two seasons, this man has led from the front with his professional approach and willingness to help others improve. He will no doubt use these skills in his coaching role with the Trailfinders Women next season.”

“James Cordy-Redden in 2016 helped the Trailfinders avoid relegation from the Championship by a point, winning a British and Irish Cup, three Championship Cups and two championships. This year he surpassed 100 caps for the Trailfinders, cementing his place as a legendary servant of the club. Nicknamed ‘The Bus’, he was a driver in the social elements of the rugby club outside of his playing duties and added an enormous amount to the team’s culture.

Director of Rugby Ben Ward said of those who left: “All the players who left after our last game of the season have contributed massively to this club through their hard work and dedication throughout their time here and I want to thank them officially for everything they did. made for Ealing Trailfinders. All those who leave our side will always be welcomed back to TFSC with open arms and I wish them all the best in whatever they choose to do in the future, be it in rugby or elsewhere.”
