The arrest of a school ‘bomb hoax’ was made as the teenager was arrested

Police have arrested a teenager in connection with a ‘fax bomb’ threat made at Myton school. Warwickshire Police confirmed this morning (May 21) that they have a man in custody on suspicion of a bomb hoax.

A teenager, who has not been identified but is from Leamington, was arrested in the early hours of this morning. He is now to be questioned. It comes after the Myton Road school was forced to evacuate after an alleged “vague threat was emailed to the school” yesterday morning.

The place was evacuated yesterday while police carried out a search. The force confirmed the site had been returned to the school.

“Our primary concern is always the safety of staff and students and I would like to thank them for their exemplary response. Following a search of the site, we are now satisfied that staff and students can safely return to the building. The school will be communicating with parents regarding re-opening plans, so please follow their instructions.”
