Romford raid sees shop window smashed as police rush to the scene

A shop window in Romford was smashed in a ram raid overnight. A picture from the scene in Petersfield Avenue, Harold Hill, shows an emergency cordon being put in place after a cash machine was apparently stolen in the chaos.

Police were alerted to the incident at 2am this morning (Tuesday, May 21). Petersfield Avenue is partially closed due to the raid as glass can be seen strewn across the pavement and road.




The Met has confirmed that no arrests have been made so far, but is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident. A spokesman said: “On Tuesday, May 21, officers were called to Petersfield Avenue, Harold Hill, at around 2am to reports of a burglary.

“Officers attended the scene and carried out all relevant enquiries, there is currently a crime scene. At this early stage, there have been no arrests.

“Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing, if you saw or know anything please come to police on 101 quoting CAD436/21MAY.”
