Serious misconduct hearing for Leicestershire police officer already on final warning after ‘abusive’ phone call.

A Leicestershire policewoman who is already on a final warning faces a further serious misconduct hearing. PC Beth Hoey is accused of asking colleagues to “carry out ‘safe’ checks on a person known to her but asked that this not be reported through the appropriate police channels”.

The incident allegedly happened while she was on a night out and she continued to ask the two officers to pick her up, Leicestershire Police said. She was “threatening and abusive” to them on the call, the force allege.

If the allegations are proven, they amount to serious misconduct, Leicestershire Police added. PC Hoey already has a final written warning which was issued following a hearing in March last year.

This warning was given after another night out. In May 2022, PC Hoey was in Worcester city center in the early hours after drinking heavily throughout the day and the night before. As she reached the end of the night, PC Hoey approached two officers from West Mercia Police in her drunken state.

She appeared to have lost a friend she had been drinking with, referred to in the hearing as Witness A. PC Hoey approached the officer and said: “Go and find (expletive)… I’ve lost the hell. she is possessed from the front”.

The hearing was told that when the West Mercia officer told PC Hoey she was busy and left, PC Hoey shouted: “You’ve got a bloody job. Sunteți dracu de polițiști”.

PC Hoey later made a 999 call to the local force’s control room, providing her collar number and reporting that her friends – referred to as Witnesses A and H – were missing. The panel heard that later in the call she criticized the officers she interacted with, swearing and claiming they were “sitting in a police van doing nothing”.
