Sheffield Wine Week will take over the city – full list of venues and what to expect

There’s good news for wine lovers in Sheffield as the city’s first ‘Wine Week’ takes place next month.

Despite winning honors including the ‘true beer capital of the world’, the city has had little recognition as a top wine destination – but organizers say the event will change that.

The inaugural Sheffield Wine Week will take place from Wednesday 26 June to Sunday 30 June and some of the city’s biggest bars and shops will be taking part.

The week was organized by Crookes-based city center pub The Old Shoe and Tenaya Wine in the hope of “breaking through the traditional veneer of Sheffield beer to help reveal a vibrant wine underbelly”.

Sarah Hatton and Virginia Myers, co-owners of Tenaya Wine, said: “A big part of why we opened was to try and expand the world of wine in Sheffield. I felt there was not enough wine!

“Since then, we’ve had a few new wine bars and it’s so exciting to see the wine scene grow in this great city. Sheffield Wine Week is a way to celebrate the growing appreciation for good wine here and open the community’s eyes to what’s on offer. Let’s celebrate great wine together.”

The full line-up of events for the week is yet to be confirmed, but organizers have given a preview of what Sheffield wine lovers can expect. On Wednesday June 26, Tenaya and St Heloise will be holding their seasonal “Supper Club”.
