Police impounded car and fined drivers during crackdown in Huddersfield village

Vehicles were towed away as motorists were hit with fines for a series of road traffic offenses in Holmfirth.

West Yorkshire Police said seven vehicles were ticketed in Holmfirth for causing an obstruction in the town centre, while an untaxed and uninsured vehicle on Huddersfield Road was towed. The crackdown on Saturday 18th May was carried out by officers with the Kirklees Rural team.

Meanwhile, in Holmbridge, police officers took action by impounding two vehicles for not having the correct documents.

Similar crackdowns on pavement parkers have taken place in Crosland Moor and Thornton Lodge this year, as well as in Woodhead Road, Holmfirth. A number of fines – believed to be £50 – have been handed out to drivers.

Earlier this month, Holme Valley councilor Charles Greaves called for more parking. He and many others have campaigned against parking charges in village car parks, which are currently free to park.
