The one tweet that changed Taylor Swift’s life and led her to do the Eras Tour

If it weren’t for one particular tweet, Taylor Swift’s music career might have looked completely different. A post from American Idol star Kelly Clarkson a few years ago apparently changed the “Fortnight” singer’s life.

In 2019, celebrity manager Scooter Braun and record executive Scott Borchetta gained ownership of all of Taylor’s masters. This meant that she was able to get all the rights to her songs after she bought her record label.

As a result, Taylor technically no longer owned any of her songs. In a lengthy tweet, Taylor initially told fans, “I don’t know what else to do.”

A host of celebrities have come out in support of Taylor, including Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Camila Cabello and Halsey. But one celebrity in particular changed everything.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter at the time, Kelly Clarkson sent the singer a suggestion on July 13 that must have caught her eye. The post read: “Just a thought, you should go in and re-record all the songs you don’t master exactly how you did.

“But it puts in new art and some sort of incentive so fans don’t buy the old versions. I would buy all the new versions just to prove a point.”

Taylor continued to do just that. She released ‘Taylor’s Version’ of her previous albums – including Red, 1989, Speak Now, Fearless.

Each re-recorded album comes with its own surprise added tracks ‘From The Vault’. Taylor also collaborated with several artists on those albums – from Fall Out Boy to Phoebe Bridgers.
