Bristol electric scooters ‘big problem’ warning as ‘idiots riding them’ block pavements

People in Bristol have complained that poor parking of the city’s fleet of electric scooters is dangerously blocking pavements in one area of the city – and Bristol Live readers aren’t big fans of them either, according to our comments section. Hotwells residents say there is a “massive problem” with riders dumping Tier e-scooters wherever they want.

One resident said: “There is no parking and lots of children, elderly and disabled people are having to go out on the road because Tier won’t do anything about it. I have reported several times and they say they remove in two hours, but nothing happens.”

Another person said: “You can’t take a pram or wheelchair down the street without walking on the road, it’s so dangerous and ridiculous.”

Bmw’s comment knows their pain: “Most are just thrown to one side. Blind people have problems, guide dogs will stop because they will not guide their owner on the way. The owners say there are more parking spaces, but most likely. not close to where the rider is going or where the battery is draining.”

Reader Lessknown19 writes: “This is becoming a major problem for the blind and visually impaired, wheelchair, pushchair and pushchair users. Like cyclists and drivers, you get the good and the bad, but unlike them, there seems to be a lack of thought or consideration. for pedestrians”.

Terryst shared a tip: “Download the Tier app and report them. Registration number on the back of the standing platform. I see dangerous parking and use. I see, quite often, 2 people on a scooter.”

Electric scooters aren’t the only culprits, as Ezergood says: “It almost makes a change from drivers clogging up the pavements with their much larger four-wheeled devices.”

On our Facebook page Russell Jones says: “The sooner these things are banned the better, they are a menace and danger to road users and pedestrians.”
