Body found in river identified as missing Loughborough woman

A body found in a Leicestershire river has been identified as a missing Loughborough woman. Leicestershire Police said today (Tuesday, May 21) that the body found in the River Soar in the hamlet of Zouch was 51-year-old Marie Wan.

The force said following a call shortly before 1pm on Sunday, April 28, police were to be called to the river where a body was found. Official identification has since revealed that the body was Ms Wan.




Ms Wan had been reported missing to police after she was last seen in the Loughborough area on Wednesday 13 March. A missing person’s inquiry has been launched and a number of public appeals have been made to help find her.

The force said the cause of her death is not being treated as suspicious and her family is being given full support. A file was said to be being prepared for HM Coroner.

He thanked everyone who helped with his appeals to find Ms Wan and provided information to the force. He also said Ms Wan’s family and friends thanked the officers involved in the investigation, as well as members of the public who helped with the search.
