Deaths at Bradford home resulting from murder-suicide: police

Police are “actively investigating the motives behind this tragic incident” in which the husband killed his wife before taking his own life.

Police have determined that the deaths of two people in a Bradford home last week were the result of a murder-suicide.

On Friday at 6:15 p.m., South Simcoe Police attended a home on Depeuter Crescent to conduct a welfare check. Police arrived and found two people dead.

In a news release Tuesday, police said the deaths were related to intimate partner violence.

“In the days before the police arrived, the perpetrator, a man in his 60s, killed his wife, who was in her 50s, and then committed suicide,” the statement said, adding that it was “actively investigating the motives who motivated this. tragic incident.”

The couple had lived in Bradford for “several decades,” police said, noting there had been no previous police calls to the residence.

“Given the sensitive nature of what happened, no further information will be released.”

Police urge victims of intimate partner violence to seek support by contacting law enforcement or women’s shelters.
