Six Leeds fun but affordable things to do with the kids this May half term

May half term is almost here, which means a whole week of little ones’ fun, but luckily there’s plenty to do in Leeds during the school holidays.

From trying rock climbing to exploring the city’s best museums, we’ve put together a list of ten of the best things to do in Leeds this half term, suitable for all ages.




While we’re enjoying great weather at the moment, we’ve made sure to select spots that can be enjoyed in any weather, just in case things change!

School holidays can be an expensive time for families, especially with the ongoing cost of living crisis, so we’ve taken care to select affordable (or free!) activities so you can enjoy a day out without breaking the bank .

Royal Armories

The Royal Armories is a perfect day out during the school holidays in Leeds.

Home to over 4,500 stunning exhibits from Britain’s national collection of arms and armour, there are five floors full of galleries to explore, from Henry VIII’s battle armor from 1520 to an incredibly rare example of elephant armor from mail and boards. There are also daily live shows and battle demonstrations.
