Thousands attend BBC Antiques Roadshow filming at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery – EALING.NEWS – The Voice of Ealing 7 towns

More than 3,000 people turned out at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery in Ealing to attend the much-anticipated filming of the BBC Antiques Roadshow on Sunday (19 May 2024).

The show, now in its 47th series, is known for revealing incredible works of art as well as antiques from communities where Ealing residents have also had the opportunity to bring their treasures.

People were told to “attack their attics” and thousands of much-loved items were inspected on site in Walpole Park and Pitzhanger’s gardens.

Visitors were greeted by Antiques Roadshow presenter Fiona Bruce alongside volunteer stewards and directed to ten specialist areas where they queued to meet the show’s specialists.

Among those present were the Mayor of Ealing, Councilor Hitesh Tailor and local MP for Ealing Central and Acton Dr Rupa Huq.

Clare Gough, director of Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery, said: “What a fabulous day we are enjoying the BBC Antiques Roadshow at Pitzhanger today and I can see the joy this event brings. We were delighted with the turnout and the atmosphere as everyone enjoyed seeing what treasures or quirky pieces with personal stories their neighbors brought in.”

Mrs Cough added: “A huge thank you to the excellent teams at the BBC, volunteer stewards, suppliers and Pitzhanger staff who all helped create a memorable day celebrating the history and spirit of the community.”

Dr Rupa Huq, MP for Ealing Central and Acton, said: “It was a real coup for the Antiques Roadshow to come to Ealing and wonderful to see the morning residents, sometimes noisy wheelbarrows, to our main venue , Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery. , for filming on Sunday as the sun set over the thousands who showed up. I actually got to talk to Fiona Bruce; the event has to be a highlight of this year so far. Well done to Clare Gough and the team for making the whole feat run smoothly.”

Episodes filmed at Pitzhanger will be broadcast later this year.
