Alexis Mac Allister issues Liverpool’s exit verdict in a direct message to Real Madrid relations

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has played down fears of a move to Real Madrid – claiming he is “very happy” at the club.

The Champions League record holders have emerged as potential suitors to end the Argentina international’s spell on Merseyside. Mac Allister was one of the standout performers in Jurgen Klopp’s final season in charge, scoring seven goals and providing as many assists in all competitions.

Following his move from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer, he has been forced into an unorthodox role throughout the season as a number six – following the surprise moves of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to the Saudi Pro League.

The Mirror claimed that reports from the midfielder’s native Argentina suggested Carlo Ancelotti’s side were looking to lure the 25-year-old to the Spanish capital next year.

But Mac Allister turned down the opportunity to be absorbed in a transfer frenzy. He said, via ESPN Argentina: “I’m not talking about assumptions, I’m very happy at Liverpool.

“I think it was a good season individually, then I had some goals that I couldn’t meet, but I still think it was a very good season.”
