Cost of living payments of £80 will be paid to UK households in June

Cost of living payments of £80 will be paid to troubled households next month. The Government’s Household Support Fund, which has been extended by Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, means Cornwall Council will offer payments of £80 to a range of different households in June.

Payments will start on June 3 and will last until the end of the month. The local authority explained: “Cornwall Council has secured a further £4.5m from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). This funding is to continue the Household Support Fund for another 6 months. The fund will operate from April 1, 2024 until September 30, 2024.

“Part of the funds will be used to provide one-off cash payments to low-income households.” The payments include £80 to pensioners receiving Pension Credit from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and £80 to adults assessed as needing care at home and receiving a financial contribution towards the cost of care from Cornwall Council.
