Salford Red Devils confirm capture of Wigan Warriors man

Salford Red Devils have signed Wigan Warriors forward Harvey Wilson

Salford Red Devils have defied expectations this season. The Manchester side were expected to struggle, however, they find themselves well and truly in the play-off mix. The Red Devils are currently in sixth place in the Super League table.

Salford were heavily beaten by Leigh Leopards in their last game, and face a daunting home fixture against league leaders and defending champions, Wigan Warriors, this weekend. Defeat for Salford would open the door for Leeds Rhinos and the closing pack to close the gap on the side in sixth.

However, Salford have received a boost this week, by bolstering their forward pack with a signing, as a talented youngster joins the Red Devils from Wigan for the remainder of the 2024 season.

Young forward, Harvey Wilson, will join the Salford squad for the rest of the season. The Wigan academy product spent the 2023 season on loan at the Widnes Vikings and Oldham in the Championship. Wilson scored two tries in seven appearances during his time with the Roughyeds.

In a club statement announcing the move, Wilson stated his determination to make the most of his opportunity with Salford.

“I am really looking forward to joining Salford. I can’t wait to get into it and take any opportunity I can to help the club. I am looking forward to playing with the lads and in front of the fans!”

Wilson has also spent time on loan with the Bradford Bulls this season. He has played eight times in the Championship so far in 2024. He has signed an 18 month contract with the Red Devils, which runs until the end of the 2025 season.
