Community leader Terry Muir was honored at the police awards ceremony

Cornwall, Ontario – On May 9, the Cornwall Police Service (CPS), the Cornwall Police Association (CPA) and the Senior Officers Association (SOA) held their inaugural Retirement and Appreciation Evening, recognizing the outstanding contributions of both their members, as well as the community. Terry Muir, a dedicated community leader, received the Community Hero Award.

Muir, known for his long involvement with the Optimist Club and Service Club Council, has had a significant impact on the Cornwall community. He assisted the CPA with events such as Kids, Cops and Fishing and Bikes and Badges. In 2019, Muir was named Citizen of the Year.

“At first I assumed I was accidentally invited to the police ceremony,” Muir noted. “It was a real honor to be recognized among a group that puts itself at risk every day.”

St. Matt Dupuis, CPA vice president, praised Muir’s dedication. “Terry’s commitment to the citizens of Cornwall and the CPA is truly admirable. He consistently puts the needs of our community before his own,” Dupuis said.

The event also celebrated CPS members with peer appreciation awards. St. Andrew Booth-Reddick received the Difference Maker Award for his positivity and community involvement, while Sgt. Mark Anderson was honored with the Leadership Award for his exemplary leadership and problem-solving skills.
