Road closures and travel advice for the Great Manchester Run 2024

Manchester City Council has published a list of road closures in the region ahead of this year’s Great Manchester Run.

Tens of thousands of hardy souls will take to the streets to take part in the annual 10km and half marathon events.

As one of the flattest and friendliest courses in the country, it’s always a huge race for runners trying to hit that elusive PB.

This year’s Great Manchester Run will take place on Sunday 26 May, but there will be road closures in some key areas from Saturday 25 May.

The 10k weaves around the city center and into Salford, while the half marathon heads east before following the same loop of landmarks.

And of course, on the same day, Manchester City will have their celebratory parade down Deansgate in a giant open-top bus, meaning some road closures will persist even longer than usual.
