Bulls A-League prodigy signs for Coventry City – FTBL

The 20-year-old winger will leave for the UK immediately after Macarthur FC agreed an undisclosed fee with the Championship club, who only lost on penalties to Manchester United after overturning a three-goal deficit goals in a thrilling tie at Wembley which underlined the progress they’ve made under manager Mark Robbins.

The Sky Blues, who eventually finished ninth, were in the Championship play-off race until the final weeks of the season and will be looking to continue in 2024-25, with the Robins seen by Rodriguez as capable of thrive in the second tier of English football.

The Brazilian-Australian – the son of former Adelaide United striker Cristiano dos Santos Rodriguez – is coming from 33 appearances in all competitions for the Bulls, scoring six times with two assists.

His development went into overdrive under Mile Sterjovski at Macarthur after making his debut at A-League rivals Melbourne City.

He was courted by several other clubs in England and Scotland before opting to head to the Midlands.

Rodriguez’s agent, former Melbourne Victory star import Fahid Ben Khalfallah, would not confirm or deny Rodriguez’s link with Coventry when contacted by the FTBL.
