Darwin Nunez is stirring the pot again after the Klopp controversy

It seems obvious that Liverpool ace Darwin Nunez is not happy with his lot at the moment.

Unable to hold down a regular place in the latter stages of the season, his unhappiness became clear for all to see when he was filmed during Jurgen Klopp’s presentation to the Anfield faithful during his post-match presentation following the final game of 2023 /24. campaign.

The Uruguayan was the only player who did not applaud the German, because the team formed a guard of honor for him.

As snubs go, that’s right up there and not a good picture when a new manager is about to come in.

Darwin Nunez’s recent comments will sting Liverpool

The last thing you want as a football manager is for a rogue player to poison the dressing room and Arne Slot will certainly raise some questions for the striker when he meets for the first time later this summer.

In an interview with Uruguayan television channel 10 and quoted by ESPN, Nunez gave a pointed answer when asked where he felt most at home.

Darwin Nunez was not entirely convincing at Liverpool.

“I feel at home when I’m in the national team,” said the player, in a clear reference to the unhappiness he feels at Liverpool.

“Then you meet your people, you can talk to everyone and feel comfortable in the national team. My family is also close; Every time I go to the national team I feel at home.”

It seems like it was a completely honest interview and in this day and age of PR and only certain questions being answered his response is quite refreshing.

However, his words could be seen as disrespectful to his employers and the Reds hierarchy would not be doing their job properly if they were not discussed when the time is right.

For now, Nunez can focus on giving his all for his national team and then hopefully progressing with Liverpool once pre-season rolls around.

If it’s clear he’s not too interested in being on Merseyside, then the club need to act decisively and quickly.
