Elliott confident of strong Liverpool finish

Liverpool can build on their Premier League victory over Tottenham last weekend, according to Harvey Elliott.

The Reds returned to their best with a 4-2 success over the top four hopefuls.

Although they are safe in third place and too far from the top two, Elliott knows he has to finish the season strong.

Of the win, he stated: “Yes, absolutely (pleasant). We came here for redemption really, especially (with) what happened in the away game. I think we had a point to prove in this game and after the last few weeks and we definitely did that.

“As I said, we came here with a plan and we had to come here to change things, especially at Anfield. The home crowd were behind us from the first minute and the boys showed it. To score as many goals as we did and create opportunities for us to score more was great and to win is even better.”

Ending the season on a high note, he concluded: “It’s not what we (just) wanted to achieve, the last few weeks weren’t good enough and we wanted to achieve a lot more. But with the crowd behind us and the last two games, we want to go out with a bang.

“We just want to win them both. We have Champions League football next season – it’s where this club belongs and deserves to be. There will be more special nights and hopefully we can make up for it next season.”
