Erling Haaland injury news as Man City prepare to face Nottingham Forest

Erling Haaland remains an injury doubt for Manchester City’s match against Nottingham Forest today.

City prepare for the trip to the City Ground as they continue their quest to win the Premier League title. Pep Guardiola’s side go into the game against Forest on the back of a 4-0 win over Brighton in midweek.

Haaland missed the game against the Seagulls with a muscle injury. It was the second City game the Norway international has missed through injury, following last weekend’s FA Cup semi-final win over Chelsea.

This season, Haaland has been battling injury concerns, especially since December. The striker missed ten games over Christmas and New Year but still managed to score 31 goals in 39 appearances in all competitions.

After missing the win over Brighton on Thursday night, Haaland’s fitness was the subject of questions for Guardiola at the Amex Stadium. At the time, the City boss admitted he did not know if Haaland would be available to play against Forest this weekend.

“I’d rather have Erling than have him (the team without him),” Guardiola told reporters after the win over Brighton. “I talked to him and he says he’s feeling better, I don’t know.”

Haaland has not featured for City since being substituted in the closing stages of the Champions League quarter-final defeat to Real Madrid last week. Guardiola will be hoping his star striker is back in time for City’s Premier League game.

City go into Sunday’s game in second place in the league, one point ahead of third-placed Liverpool with two games in hand. City are also a point behind leaders Arsenal with a game in hand, with the Gunners facing Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby hours before City’s clash with Forest.
