The former Sheffield United manager is set to interview for the Championship job

Former Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom is on the hunt for a new job and Championship side Plymouth Argyle have been linked with the former Premier League manager.

Plymouth Argyle almost suffered relegation from the Championship last season, finishing on the final day with just a single point, which saw Birmingham City join Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United in the bottom three.

Despite the Green Army having an outstanding striker in Morgan Whittaker with 19 goals, the club would finish with one of the lowest goal tallies with 59. This, in addition to leaking 70 goals, summed up their campaign while they fought in both squares. And the two standout players in both boxes could be on the move this summer.

Whittaker’s performances saw the likes of Lazio and Sporting Lisbon linked with the 23-year-old earlier this year, and the European duo are set to go all out again for the Englishman’s services. To add, promising goalkeeper Michael Cooper has sparked the interest of various Championship clubs and even Premier League sides.

Heckingbottom becoming Plymouth Argyle manager could actually benefit Sheffield United. Because of his links with United’s youth academy, perhaps the Blades could see some of their top prospects, such as Louie Marsh, join Argyle on a season-long loan.
