Bradford man accused of sexually assaulting minors

Police say the crimes were committed in 2023, but believe there could be more victims

A Bradford West Gwillimbury man has been charged with sex crimes against minors and police believe there may be more victims.

In March 2023, a 16-year-old girl communicated with the 19-year-old suspect on social media, York Regional Police said in a news release.

In June of that year, the girl met the suspect, who posed as a 17-year-old girl and allegedly sexually assaulted her.

On February 5, 2024, the suspect was charged with sexual assault.

Police also allege that in October 2023, a 13-year-old girl met the suspect at a party, where he posed as a 16-year-old. He met with the victim at a later date and sexually assaulted her, police said.

Police learned the suspect visited high schools in Newmarket where he accosted students.

Janarthan Sivaranjan, 20, was charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and solicitation of sexual contact.
