Starting line-up, confirmed team news, latest Premier League injury today

Cristian Romero misses Tottenham’s Premier League game against Leeds today, while Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg also remains absent.

Both players picked up injuries in the defeat to Aston Villa two weeks ago and then missed the defeat to Brentford last time out.

Asked if any of the players could play earlier this week, Ryan Mason said: “Cristian no. He has an injury – he’s out. Pierre trained yesterday, so hopefully he can help us at the weekend.”

Earlier this week, Eric Dier underwent groin surgery on a long-term core injury, but Mason suggested the England centre-back could return in time to take part in Tottenham’s pre-season.

Mason said, “I think so. The hope and expectation is that this will be the case. That’s why the operation was going so fast.

“I’m not too sure about his injuries,” Mason replied when asked if Dier had managed the injury for much of the season before undergoing surgery.

“I was professional; you have persistent lesions. Ultimately, it’s an injury that needs surgery. Right now, he definitely couldn’t do it (without surgery), so that option was taken away from us.”
