New Red Bull Salzburg head coach Pep Lijnders has admitted he would love to take Conor Bradley to Austria next season.

Lijnders, 41, decided to leave Liverpool alongside Jurgen Klopp and was confirmed as the new Salzburg boss last week. The Dutchman has been a key figure in Klopp’s side since rejoining the Reds in 2018, but will now branch out on his own in the Bundesliga.

Lijnders, who previously had a brief spell in charge at NEC, joins a team that has dominated the league in recent years, although he was guided to the title by Sturm Graz this term.

And ahead of the summer transfer window, Lijnders joked that Bradley, one of Liverpool’s top young prospects, would be a welcome addition to his new squad.

In an interview with The Redmen TV, Lijnders referred to Bradley and some of the club’s other promising youngsters, saying: “I really believed in Conor Bradley and Jarell (Quansah) and Caoimhin Kelleher and Harvey Elliott and Curtis ( Jones).

“But Conor, what is he doing here? Conor Bradley? What he did? We have a new right back, you don’t have to buy anyone. By the way, he can come to Salzburg immediately. I have a lot but no money. I have money, but now you have Michael Edwards in charge!”

Bradley, who joined Liverpool’s academy in 2019, won plenty of plaudits last season during a loan spell in League One with Bolton Wanderers.
