Birmingham personal injury law firm giving away $10,000 in gift cards on Thursday

A personal injury law firm with an office in Birmingham is giving away $10,000 in grocery gift cards at an undisclosed location in the city on Thursday.

The first 100 people to show up at a secret location — to be revealed at noon Thursday — will each receive a $100 gift card to 1-800-TRUCK-WRECK, the firm announced.

“Food poverty knows no season, and we understand that no matter the season, people need to stay fed,” Amy Witherite, owner of 1-800-TruckWreck, said in a statement. “We hope that holding this food giveaway during the summer months can help alleviate some of the burden of finding affordable food while the kids are home on summer vacation.”

Gift cards will be handed out at the secret location from 3pm to 5pm on Thursday.

Dilleon of WBHJ 97.5 Jamz will join 1-800-TRUCK-WRECK for a live broadcast on location.

The law firm said it is making the donation because 70 percent of Birmingham residents live in neighborhoods that are food insecure and a federal summer EBT program is at risk for Alabama youth.

“1-800-TruckWreck is committed to serving the community and is directly addressing this need by providing local families with the means to help purchase food this summer,” the firm said.
