The school where every child is valued is praised by Ofsted

Ofsted inspectors praised a “friendly and welcoming” place to learn. They said Little Stoke Primary School continues to be a good school.

The report states: “Staff build positive relationships with pupils. Students embrace the school’s values ​​of aspiration, inclusion, responsibility and collaboration in everything they do and say.

“The school creates an environment where students feel listened to and valued. The staff is kind and patient. Students develop the confidence to talk about any worries or concerns they may have. They trust adults to solve problems quickly.

“The school has high expectations from every student. In turn, students listen carefully and do their best in lessons. School is a calm and purposeful place where students can focus on their learning. Students enjoy the range of activities and clubs that develop and develop their talents and interests. These include extracurricular sports, gardening and music.

“The vast majority of parents fully support the school. They appreciate the inclusive and welcoming ethos that the school creates.”

It adds that it has overcome many staff changes and reversed a legacy of weaker provisions from the past.

“Some of these contributed to below national year six results in English and maths in 2023,” the report adds. “However, the school has worked at pace to ensure important improvements in the quality of education. Students are doing much better now than in the past.”

The report praised the focus on reading, leaving no student behind, as well as the school’s ambitious and well-structured curriculum.

“A focus on improving the quality of teaching is paying off,” the report adds. “Teachers break tasks down into small steps to help students, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), understand new concepts. In maths, for example, staff regularly check what students understand and remember.

He continues: “Governors understand the school’s priorities. They provide effective support and challenge to school leaders.”

Director Dan Ross said: “We are delighted with the report. Staff have worked tirelessly to implement a clear and consistent approach to teaching based on evidence-based principles. At Little Stoke Primary, we strive to create a curriculum that excites and engages our students, as well as preparing them well as they continue the next steps of their educational journey.

“We are so proud of the staff and pupils at the school for receiving this positive recognition of all their hard work and commitment.”

The school has 208 students between the ages of 4 and 11.
