Liverpool confirm head coach Slot as Klopp’s successor

Liverpool are preparing for life under Arne Slot after bidding farewell to Jurgen Klopp on Sunday.

Slot has now been officially confirmed as Liverpool’s next manager and faces a difficult task of filling the shoes of Klopp, who has been in charge for eight and a half years. Klopp is leaving with his coaching staff and there will be a fresh feeling at the club this summer.

The Dutchman was appointed by Fenway Sports Group boss Michael Edwards and new Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes. They will now be busy playing for the summer transfer window, with Slot no doubt keen to have a say in recruitment.

Lijnders wants Bradley

Klopp leaves alongside his assistant Pep Lijnders, who has since taken over at Red Bull Salzburg. The Dutchman was a key figure during the Klopp era and deserves a lot of credit for bringing in players from Liverpool’s academy.

He is very proud of his work – and joked that he brought Conor Bradley with him to Austria. In an interview with The Redmen TV, Lijnders said: “I really believed in Conor Bradley, Jarell (Quansah) and Caoimhin Kelleher, Harvey Elliott and Curtis (Jones).

“But Conor, what is he doing here? Conor Bradley? What he did? We have a new right back, you don’t have to buy anyone. By the way, he can come to Salzburg immediately. I have a lot but no money. I have money, but now you have Michael Edwards in charge!”
