The data shows exactly three dates when we should have heat waves in 2024

Britain will have heatwaves on exactly three dates this year if we follow the same pattern as the past five years. Analysts studied weather data from the past five years in the UK and found a pattern emerging for heatwaves.

Analysts at Parkdean Resorts have found three dates that have recurrent heatwaves above 24C every year for five years running.

This means that in 2024, selecting dates for a sunny holiday, booking annual leave and planning family and friend barbecues will no longer be a guessing game, as they have revealed exactly when heatwaves are expected to grace Britain, backed by science.

The study looked at the months between May and September and average daily temperatures over the past five years.

With 2,000 online searches in the UK in the last month alone for ‘when will it get hot?’, Brits have been eagerly awaiting the answer.

The data revealed that the hottest days of the whole year are expected to fall from Wednesday July 17 to Friday July 19, where temperatures have averaged 28.2 degrees Celsius over the past five years.

Science shows that the second hottest spell should fall in August, from Wednesday 7 August to Tuesday 13 August.
