Leeds United could be in line for a ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ style documentary after seeing Hollywood actor Will Ferrell the latest to join the 49ers’ investment arm.

Leeds taking the championship after three years in the Premier League is not ideal for the club’s development plans in the coming years.

However, significant developments from the 49ers’ investment in the club proved that Leeds are still a massive draw, even finishing third in the Championship.

Will Ferrell has been confirmed as a new investor in Leeds United

An intriguing turn of events emerged on Saturday after Leeds’ defeat to Southampton, with The Sun revealing that Leeds have received fresh investment from another huge celebrity across the pond.

This time it is the turn of Hollywood actor Will Ferrell to be named as part of the 49ers’ investment structure at Elland Road, the biggest name yet to be linked with Leeds.

The Athletic revealed that Ferrell is joining as another minority investor in the club, joining sports stars Michael Phelps, Justin Thomas, Jordan Speith, Larry Nance Jr, Russell Westbrook – as well as Russell Crowe, also from the film world.

His role at the club is purely as an investor, meaning he won’t have much of a say in how Paraag Marathe and co want to run the club going forward.

Leeds could have new ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ style documentary series – Report

The Sun also reported following the news that Ferrell’s involvement at Leeds could see them follow the Hollywood investment route to Wrexham, with Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds in charge of the promoted League Two side starring in their documentary . Welcome to Wrexham:

“The comedian (Ferrell) wore a hat from Los Angeles FC, his other co-owned team, as the pair watched the game against Wealdstone, with Ferrell texting Reynolds from the US.

“His fame could see the streaming giants vying to air a lucrative new series in Leeds after Amazon followed the promotion of the Championship side to the Take Us Home programme.”

Leeds attracts a serious number around the world

If Wrexham can get global interest in their story, you’d bet Leeds could do the same given our already established global appeal.

We are a Championship club and not at the level of the big six, but our year-on-year revenue is not far off that kind of cover.

With Ferrell on board, draw more and more people to the Leeds brand and show how well the 49ers are doing.
