Liverpool ‘plotting’ £10m transfer bargain for Arne Slot favorite amid shock exit demands

Arne Slot could be set for an immediate reunion with a Feyenoord star as the new Liverpool boss considers his first transfer. Earlier this week, the Dutchman was officially confirmed as Jurgen Klopp’s successor at the Merseyside club after an emotional farewell following victory over Wolves at Anfield last weekend.

As such, a new era at Liverpool will begin from the 2024/25 season, with a number of important decisions already facing Slot. Some of that will rely on keeping star players, with Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson all linked with a potential exit.

Last summer, Klopp began a necessary rebuild with numerous midfield additions that will no doubt help Slot in his first campaign at the club. Talk of Salah and Alexander-Arnold leaving has increased with Klopp’s impending departure, but it now looks like both will stay at Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Alisson is reportedly attracting a lot of interest from Saudi Arabia and it’s also hard to imagine back-up option Caoimhin Kelleher staying at the club for much longer. With that in mind, suggestions have emerged for a new goalkeeper this summer, with one option emerging particularly for Slot.

According to reports in Holland, Liverpool are interested in signing Feyenoord player Justin Bijlow. The 26-year-old has recently emerged as a target for Arsenal, according to the Telegraph , but the upside could certainly be that Liverpool are considering the link with Slot.

Manchester United tried to sign the Netherlands international last summer but were ruled out of a move, but that does not appear to be a problem at Anfield 12 months on. Injury problems and a difficult contract situation have meant a price tag of around £10m has been mooted, certainly a bargain for Liverpool if they opt to strike.
