Lazio are set to adjust their transfer target wages from Leicester and Manchester City

Lazio are working on a new contract for young goalkeeper Christos Mandas, which will include a pay rise.

The 22-year-old joined the club last summer, completing a transfer from Crete FC. He was initially considered third-choice custodian, but when Ivan Provedel suffered an injury in March, Mandas bravely filled the void, producing five clean sheets in nine Serie A appearances and allowing just six goals.

The Greek’s performance has earned him interest from Manchester City, who are always on the lookout for young talent to boost their U23 ranks. Moreover, newly-promoted Leicester City are also on the goalkeeper’s trail, according to recent reports.

Lazio will therefore look to protect their young stopper by improving his wages. The Greece U21 international is currently among the club’s lowest earners, earning around €200,000 a year. According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), the Biancocelesti are offering the player a net salary of €500,000, but the goalkeeper and his agent are looking for €800,000.

Mandas is under contract until 2028, so the two sides don’t need to extend the term, just adjust the salary. However, Lazio would be content to listen to offers as they would be willing to sacrifice the goalkeeper for the right price. The Italian capital values the player at 15 million euros.
