Sisk secure €350m Manchester City stadium deal – The Irish Times

Irish builder Sisk has secured a €350m deal to redevelop part of English Premier League champions Manchester City’s home ground, the Etihad Stadium, which will include an expanded north stand.

Sisk said the new facilities will increase capacity to 60,000 from the current 53,000 by adding a single large upper level to the stadium’s north stand.

A sky bar overlooking the pitch and a walk on the stadium roof will be added above the new level.

Integrated stadium facilities will include a 3,000-capacity covered fan area in City Square and various food and beverage outlets, a new club shop, museum, workspace and a 400-bed hotel.

The new north stand will open in the 2025-2026 football season. Sisk will complete the hotel, City Square and workspace by the end of 2026.

It is the latest project at a major sporting venue that Sisk has worked on, following Cork’s Páirc Uí Chaoimh and Dublin’s Aviva Stadium and Croke Park.

Chief executive Paul Brown said the company was delighted to be working at such an important venue as the Etihad Stadium.

“Previous knowledge of our stadiums remains embedded in Sisk. The leading Irish executives who led those projects in the early parts of their careers will now provide invaluable support to our team in Manchester,” he added.

Danny Wilson, managing director, Manchester City Operations, said the project will not only allow the club to expand what it offers to fans, but will also “create long-term economic and social benefits for our local community” based on the investment since 2008.

The project will create about 890 full-time jobs, according to Sisk. The company is a leading construction company in Ireland with operations here in the UK and Europe.
