Liverpool join Arsenal in £10m transfer race amid Arne Slot push for stunning reunion

Liverpool have received huge updates on two summer transfer targets who previously played under Arne Slot.

Following the departure of Jurgen Klopp, Slot faces an interesting first few months at Anfield with a number of transfer decisions on the agenda. Although it officially starts at the beginning of June, it is very likely that he is already thinking about what he wants the team to look like three months later, at the start of the 2024/25 season.

With that in mind, a number of Liverpool transfer targets have been named and it’s no surprise that some of them are players that Slot trusts. Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow is among those with reports in Holland revealing him as an option should Liverpool lose both Alisson, amid very real interest from Saudi Arabia, and Caoimhin Kelleher.

However, they look ready to face competition from Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta identifying the 26-year-old as a possible replacement for Aaron Ramsdale, according to the Telegraph. It would be entirely fair to suggest that some Feyenoord stars may struggle to impress at Liverpool given how others have fared in the Eredivisie.

However, Slot being an experienced manager, he has coached some top players with Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners, one from his days at AZ Alkmaar. The 26-year-old could leave Italy this summer, fresh from winning the Europa League, with his recent admission leaving the door wide open.

“I’m happy just to enjoy this title with the fans, I’m focused on celebrating,” he told Sky Italia, via Football Italia. “Next season? I do not know. We’ll see.” Atalanta saw off Liverpool in style earlier in the competition and it’s now entirely possible that Slot will join Merseyside, especially given a previous admission.
