York City will face Sheffield United at the LNER Community Stadium in pre-season

York City welcome Sheffield United to the LNER Community Stadium this pre-season on Saturday 13th July (3pm kick-off).

Adam Hinshelwood’s pre-season preparations have so far been heralded by a visit from League One side Huddersfield Town and a trip to National League North side Spennymoor Town, with Sheffield United becoming the Minstermen’s third confirmed pre-season friendly.

Chris Wilder’s side succumbed to relegation from the Premier League after a difficult 2023/24 season. A comeback will likely be on the radar for the Blades.

City last tested themselves against United ten years ago, hosting them at Bootham Crescent in the final pre-season friendly before the 2014/15 season.

Supporters would have to go back to 2002 for the last competitive game between the two sides – a 1-0 defeat in the League Cup.
