Ibbitson, 18, will be looking to break into their first team in the near future. According to reporter Alan Nixon on his Patreon page, he attracted interest from some unnamed top clubs before this summer.

In this latest update on his situation at Valley Parade, however, the Yorkshire outfit have announced that he has put pen to paper with them, which is a boost. Gabriel Wadsworth and Zac Hadi have also signed similar contracts.

Ibbitson kicked 31 goals for the Bantams’ Under-19s last term and won the Neil Matthews Academy Player of the Year award.

Who is this?

THE QUIZ STARTS!

Ibbitson is a name for Bradford City fans to keep an eye on down the line as they look to force their way into the senior picture.

He is yet to feature for Alexander’s side but could be involved in pre-season as they prepare for the 2024/25 campaign.

The Bantams have recently provided a pathway for academy players such as Bobby Pointon and Noah Wadsworth, and Ibbitson could be the next to make the move.

Retaining his services amid interest from elsewhere is a smart move and his chances of senior football are much better in the fourth tier than if he left for a higher league.

Bradford City have the chance to strengthen their ranks further in the coming months as they look to add more quality to their ranks.

They have already swooped into the market to sign midfielder Antoni Sarcevic and defender Neill Byrne fresh off the back of their promotion with Stockport County.

The Bantams have already published their retained list and confirmed that Dylan Youmbi, Finn Cousin-Dawson, Harry Chapman, Harvey Rowe, Heath Richardson, Isaac Robinson, Liam Ridehalgh, Luke Hendrie, Matt Derbyshire, Noah Wadsworth and Sam Bentley have been released.

Ibbitson will not be joining them for the exit door and remains on the books at Bradford City as they try to win promotion next year to League One. They recently finished 9th, one point outside the play-offs.
